The course is designed to help students understand the fundamentals of facial therapy treatments and the use of equipment in a beauty centre and aesthetics clinic setting. This will prepare them with the technical knowledge and skills to meet the demands of the aesthetics industry. Students will be able to examine the client's skin condition and recommend appropriate skincare regimen and products, provide skincare advice crucial to the overall health and well-being of the client. The students will be able to guide the client in managing the effects of the diseases or skin conditions.
The course covers the following key topics:
- Clinical skincare treatments
- Client care, consultation and assessment
- Facial anatomy and physiology
- Swedish Massage for face
- Facial procedures, tools and equipment
- Personal grooming, health, hygiene and safety
- Skincare products
The course will be delivered through hands-on simulation and practical activities conducted in the classroom, as well as in the purpose-built Spa Technical Lab at the Republic Hospitality Centre. The laboratory is equipped with the necessary facilities and equipment to create a conducive, active learning environment to simulate the realities of the industry. This module will foster and instil skills in not only facial therapy and organisation of work, but also proper grooming and deportment expected in the industry. Simulation of client care and consultation will inculcate good interpersonal communication skills. By the end of the course, students will have relevant knowledge and skills customised for a future career in assisting aesthetics patients in medical spas and aesthetic clinics.
