Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – Skills Training in the Community
1. What support is available to assist me with skills upgrading after my release?

Financial support for skills upgrading and aid are available. You may refer to YRSG’s Courses page for the list of courses currently offered in the community and apply directly. YRSG may fund up to 100% of the course fees.

2. Can YRSG provide funding support for courses that are not listed on the site?

No. YRSG does not fund courses that are not listed on the site. However, you may register your interest via this registration form.

3. Can I enrol in a part-time course while working full time?

Yes, you may. Balancing a full-time job and part-time studies may be challenging. We recommend discussing your plans with your Reintegration Officer (RO) before enrolling in a course.

4. Do I have to sign up for the course immediately upon my release/emplacement?

We encourage you to consider signing up for courses early in your reintegration journey as it may aid in making the transition into the workforce smoother, while also equipping yourself with industry-relevant skills. However, we recognise that the initial months may be a period of adjustment, where other priorities may require your attention. You may still apply for courses at your own pace within your emplacement period when you are ready to take the next step.

5. How do I sign up for the courses with YSRG?

You can sign up directly in the registration form.

6. How will I receive updates regarding the course in which I have indicated interest?

You will receive updates via your RO or case manager (applicable to halfway house residents).

7. Can I withdraw from the course once my course registration is confirmed? What will happen if I withdraw?

We encourage you to carefully consider your decision before withdrawing from a course after your registration has been confirmed, as it may affect your emplacement period and future training opportunities. If you have any concerns or need to explore alternatives, you may reach us at Feedback@Yellowribbon.gov.sg.

8. What should I do if I am feeling unwell and unable to attend a few days of my classes?

Please notify your RO and trainer as soon as possible. A medical certificate would be required to attend make-up classes. Following that, YRSG will work with the trainer to help you catch up on any missed material to help you stay on track with the course curriculum.

9. I am unsure of what courses I should take for the benefit of my career development. Who can I approach for guidance on this?

You may consult your assigned YRSG career coach for support in selecting courses that align with your career goals and aspirations. They can provide you with guidance in making informed decisions to support your career development.
